Narrative
Homeric Hymn 6 sings Aphrodite as foam-born Cyprian whom the moist breath of Zephyrus carried over the wave to Cyprus; the Horai received her, clothed her in heavenly garments, and led her to the immortals, who wondered and welcomed her. The singer asks a lovely song in return. Homeric Hymn 10 is briefer still: Cytherea of the glancing eyes, who tames the tribes of men and cares for Thebes of the well-built walls (or, in the cultic address, the goddess of Cyprus and Cythera), hailed and asked for a fair song.
Together the shorts give foam-arrival and cult-title praise without Anchises, Ares’ net, or Adonis. Catalogue them as Aphrodite’s short-hymn pair, parallel to the Artemis and Athena doublets.
