Narrative

Imbrius, son of Mentor of Pedaeum, had married Medesicaste, a bastard daughter of Priam, and lived in Priam’s house when the Achaeans came. In the fight at the ships Teucer struck him under the ear with a spear; he fell like an ash cut on a mountain. Teucer moved to strip him; Hector hurled and missed, killing Amphimachus instead; in the struggle over the corpses the Ajaxes (and others) contended. Catalogue Imbrius’s death as a distinct Iliadic micro-episode—the Pedaean son-in-law cut down—apart from the wider Teucer–Ajax shield fighting.
